My First Sbo! Blog!

I'm not much of a blogger, per say. But I sometimes do in fact, have stuff to say. However, I do expect this particular blog to be boring and rarely updated. Feel free to follow along and read, or not. It's entirely up to you.
My first entry, I guess, will be about a recent trip to the bay area (San Jose). I went with my father in-law to have our taxes done a couple of weekends ago. It's a little far just for taxes, but he's known the guy for over 30 years, so why not. Last year was the first time I had this guy do our (my wife and my) taxes, but I didn't go down there myself. I had previously always done my own. Anyways, it was taking forever so I went outside for some air. Now the part of town that we were in is an entirely Mexican community (and they make really good burritos). I only say that because as I was walking around, I turned into a nearby alley and there was a blue Beetle parked along the side. Naturally, I walked up to it to take a closer look. I first noticed that it was a 73+ because of the large taillights, but then I saw that it had a license plate that I did not recognize. Upon closer inspection I saw that the plate was from Chiapas, the southernmost state of Mexico! Intriqued, I looked and found that it was indeed a Mexican spec Beetle. The features were as follows: no chrome trim, no rear "half moon" vents just the depression on the body, painted bumpers with new style "C channel" brackets, turn signals in the front bumper, single exhaust, standard steel wheels no hubcaps (not "sport" type wheel), Hella E-code headlights, and disk brakes. It was in relatively good shape. It was also the first Mexican Beetle I've ever seen in person, which is interesting since it came all 2900 or so miles from southern Mexico! I'd attach a pic, but it's currently stuck on my phone. I saw a few Beetles on my way down that day, but this one was the highlight!
